WHAT IS A SUSTAINABLE FUNERAL?

A Sustainable Funeral composts the organic matter in one’s body to enable its beneficial return to the earth, without the need for a casket or cemetery plot.  The family receives a biodegradable cotton urn and the body’s essence in reusable containers. The organic nutrients in the essence live on after being gifted to a tree, pasture, forest, yard, church grounds, or transported to any desired location or locations where one wishes to be memorialized.

STEPS INVOLVED WITH A FUNERAL WITH US

  • Whenever possible, contact us, prior to death, to assist with pre-planning. When a death has occurred, call us.
  • Hold a home funeral or have the deceased transported to our funeral home.
  • We never embalm. Why? Carcinogens in embalming fluids harm survivors. Untreated blood and tissue are drained into our sewers.
  • Information for the death certificate must be provided.
  • The body is placed into our New Life Chamber; then, our patent-pending Alkaline Hydrolysis 2.0™ process begins.
  • Plant nutrients: potassium and nitrogen, compost the body’s organic matter, in a couple of hours.
The essence, about 25 gallons, is placed into reusable containers. The bones are reduced to dust by our Dust Maker; then, placed in a biodegradable cotton urn. Medical implants are made sterile and donated to those in need. Mercury in the teeth is reclaimed. We prevent mercury, a neurotoxin, and hazardous second only to radiation, from being spewed into our air or entering our aquifers and harming survivors.
  • The family receives the urn, a tree, and some or all of the essence. If requested, we will return essence to the earth, on behalf of families.
  • Many families hold a gathering to honor the deceased. Most people prefer to gather at a residence, local church, event center, park, or a restaurant.
