About Us

Congressional Cemetery preserves and promotes the historical and active burial ground. The cemetery is one of the oldest institutions in Washington and the final resting place of many who were integral in forming our nation. It is a National Historic Landmark that dates back 200 years in American history. They are also the only D.C. cemetery that offers green burial options. Veterans from each war are represented and buried in the cemetery. In addition, the staff puts on events throughout the year to engage the community in outdoor recreation. This is unique for a graveyard, but they take pride in staying involved in the community.
