I love doing the work of meeting with families to plan a funeral service or Celebration of Life. It is a great honor to be welcomed and trusted by people who are in the sacred space of grief and gratitude. I like to meet in person, but sometimes it is by Zoom (during Covid, it was almost always by Zoom). I do not have an agenda to promote and always try to make sure the service goes the way the family wants it to go. The ideas for how to do the service usually emerge quite naturally just by talking heart-to-heart regarding the person who has passed away. When asked, I can easily be the only speaker, but I have found that often others wish to speak as well, and so we make sure our themes and tones are consistent and harmonious with each other. On the day of the actual ceremony, I also always show up nice and early so that we can still fine-tune any last minute details or do any necessary tweaking of the plans. 

I work with funeral homes all across the Ottawa area and the Capital Region, and also respond to private requests which come to me, unconnected to funeral homes.  www.DrNickMdiv.org
